What do you do when you come across a blank wall?

This is one for Roger, I think.

I would like to do an arrangement of a piece of copyright music. I have found out the copyright owner after a long search and tried to contact them to ask permission. I have come up against a dead end. Although I asked months ago, I have had absolutely no response from them. (BMG). In another thread, you mentioned a 'standard form' which I searched for but could not find. What can I do now?

    The wrong wall, perhaps?

I wonder if you have the right copyright owner. BMG is a recording company, and they presumably own copyright on a recording of this particular composition. But are they the PUBLISHER of the original printed edition? That's who you need to contact.
