Hi there. I have been having this argument with my boyfriend for a while now, over the colour of a tennis ball (I promise we're not as sad as it sounds). I know that tennis balls can come in all colours e.g. orange, cream, white etc, but it's the "normal" tennis balls.

Now I think that they are yellow - a very bright yellow, but yellow nonetheless. My boyfriend thinks they're green.

I'm calling on the people of tMP to settle this once and for all!

erm they're greeny-yellow, but definately more green than yellow, and as you don't have an option for greeny-yellow i shall vote green!

greeny/yellow. But in terms of categorisation, definitely on the green side

I worked part-time in jjb sports for four years through college, I stacked and sold tubes of yellow tennis balls nearly everyday I worked... Never saw a green one though...

Quite clearly yellow! You could bounce one off his head until he agrees with you... ;)

Have a look at this link. Seems there is more green there than yellow but we percieve more yellow. Dog spit confuses the issue even more.

I'm so old I can remember when they were white - just like dog poo.

Ha ha. Excellent idea. I just told him you said that and I won't type the reply.

He just told me that "There's an analysis in photoshop of tennis ball colour. The conclusion is that there is more green in the ball than yellow but the eye perceives more yellow." Spoken like a true colour blind person!

I must say that I'm very pleased with the response and releaved to see that the majority of tMPers are not colour blind. I knew tMP wouldn't let me down. :)
