So whos going? So Far I know of:
Ireland Colliery and i believe Derby Rolls Royce will be there in the 4th
what is the venue like I have never been
Venue is good to play and listen in and has its own bar (although Wetherspoons also does well). Well organised, too.
Egham - 1st Section
Is the hall we play in big or small for exampl like buxton or like wychavon very small and if a band played loud it just didnt work
Pretty big stage and hall, seats up to 700.
Curtains at back so make sure the basses move forward or you won't hear them
Come on Di- dont think we will have that problem lol!!!!
Yep Matlock are there in 2nd Section.
play from the car park - thats what the adjudicator thinks anyway ;-)
Thats if the Matlock bass section make it out of the pub for the contest - a feat in itself! ;-)
Got to disagree (in some ways) about the venue...
Its decent enough to listen in, but its cramped (especially when it comes to changing space) and the hall is pretty poor to play in as it can be very tricky to hear people around you ('lonely').
There are far worse out there I'll admit, but I'm not fond of it (because I dislike playing on it) personally.
It's ok Norman will be there!!!!
Actually thinking about it the curtains might do us a favour!!
Masses of STAIRS if any band has any disabled players, they may well need a bit of help at times!
(They might even get it...... one can dream!)
well sort of, it closes very early (7.00pm?) usually before the top section has played
Closes nearer to 5pm but there is a heavily used wetherspoons in walking/staggering distance
Thinking of popping down for a listen as I may have no other engagements on...
this might be really dull of me to ask, but what is the exact date of the contest? can someone PM me with the dates etc
Its the weekend after leicester usually if that helps
Croft Silver in 4th section
But it is not this year as leicester is on the 29th and lemington spa is on the 22nd Nov
Bream Silver are coming along in the thrid section but we've not heard a dicky bird, is the contest still on?
