Nigel Weeks made his conducting debut wth the YBS Band this weekend as guest conductor for their concert at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough.
Nigel and the band were in top form as they played through a programme that contained some established concert repertoire.
It was the first time that Nigel has taken YBS. His invitation to conduct the band came straight from the band's Principal Conductor Prof. David King under whom he is studying for his MA at Salford University.

In 1994 Nigel flew out to New Zealand as Musical Director of Dalewool Auckland Brass where the band has enjoyed a period of great success under his musical direction winning the New Zealand Brass Band Championships in 1995, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2004 and the Australian Championships in 1996, 1997 and 2003.

Whilst in New Zealand, he proved to be a very successful Director of Music at The Manurewa High School, Auckland and King’s College, Auckland .

In September 2005, Nigel returned to the UK and is also teaching part-time at the University and has recently been awarded a ‘Fellowship’ at Salford University. Since returning to the UK Nigel has worked with Brighouse and Rastrick, Buy As You View Cory Band and is currently Professional Conductor of Mt Charles from Cornwall.
