So you pretty much took a clean sweep of all the prizes then. Next year you need to give someone else a chance, that would be fair

Sure you'll come back strong and kick butt at the areas! :D

And who said bandsmen and women drink a lot...lies i tell you, all lies! :guiness

Just out of interest what did the various bands play at this contest? Was the format set e.g. march hymn test piece or own choice entertainment?

That's if there's anyone left from yesterday that wasn't blotto and can still remember what they actually played :)

And here is the first sober post of the thread...

I actually can't remember much of yesterday - it was a painkiller induced haze of an experience for me as I had to pull out of Cott's gig the night before in agony. Thanks to the third cornets for the loan of the tens machine and the Reiki sessions or I wouldn't actually have got on stage! :-?

I think it went OK for us - nice to have a good result after a year of rebuilding for the band. I can only apologise for miming half the programme - and to any members of the audience who saw the expression of pain on my face at the end!

Also apologies to everyone I ignored yesterday (especially Mr. Mute!) as I was off my head on muscle relaxants. Thank God they don't drug test in banding.

All in all an OK experience for me but the pain was too great to really enjoy the day. I'm now off work for 2 days in order to recover...makes you wonder why we do it at times eh?

Well Done to Cottingham on their victory at Malton. From what I have heard it was well deserved. It's good to see the band doing well after a bad year or so and hopefully it is a nod to the future.

Didn't manage to get blotto due to limited drinking time, A fairly late draw and pubs were just shut when we got back to Sheffield :(

    We played :-

    Augies Municipal Band
    Variations on a Welsh Theme
    The B.B & C.F.
Suo Gan from the Celtic Suite
    Sing, Sing, Sing
    Final Hymn from Firebird

I think the true stars at Malton were Golcar who won section c.

It was their first contest and to win was a fab achievement.

    so well done to Golcar
    Oh and well done Cottingham!
