    Hi -
Does anyone have a mid range trumpet they no longer use and would like to sell?

My son is a cornet player but has recently become part of a jazz/bigband at his university.

He is a good enough musician to appreciate a quality instrument - (and also a cheap one!) - but he doesnt need a top flight model. Knowing nothing about trumpet makes I am a bit in the dark as to what to look out for.

If anyone could give me impartial advice I would be greatful.

If you can go £300, I have some good options....

    Have a look at this:

Yamaha Trumpet Bb YTR4335G in Lacquer or Silverplate - John Packer
You may be able to find better prices by shopping around.

These instruments have a reputation for being way better than their price range suggests. I actually know of a couple of pro players who keep one of these as a spare in case of accidental damage to their regular instrument, and who are quite happy to play the Yamaha on a pro gig.

I'd snap that up myself, if I had the spare cash ...:(
