Nearly a decade after last winning at the Cornwall Brass Band Association contest, St Agnes Silver Band is celebrating success with a win in their section.

The Band came away from the contest at Truro Methodist Church with the title Cornish 4th Section Champions, after impressing adjudicator Derek Broadbent with their performance of "A Saddleworth Festival Overture" by Cornish composer Goff Richards.

The Band is celebrating its centenary this year and after a low spell is back to full strength. Musical Director, David Olds, has been associated with the Band for nearly 40 years, and has most recently worked hard training local young people.

The 100th anniversary celebrations will include a series of special events, including a band reunion and a birthday concert. Any former players or others with a connection who would like to be informed of events should contact secretary Anne Courts.
