Vernon Building Society Poynton Band Update

The Vernon Building Society Poynton Band is well into their preparations for the 2013 regionals. Due to work commitments MD Colin Short is unable to conduct the band at Blackpool.
We are pleased to announce that Neil Samuel will be conducting the band and we are already working hard on Brass Triumphant.
There are also a few new faces around the stands .We welcome Nick Harrington on Solo Cornet who also plays with Poynton Youth Band
Cara Wheeldon on 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] cornet and Sue Tideswell on 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] baritone both from Whaley Bridge Band. Russell Turner and Michael Hunt on 1[SUP]st[/SUP] and 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] horn respectively who also play with Poynton’s sister band, Concert Brass.
After 20 years service to the band flugel player Sarah Johnson has stepped down to follow work and family commitments. The band is pleased to announce the appointment of Beth Haworth, currently studying for a music degree at the University of Manchester, on flugel. The band also say goodbye and thankyou to Natalie Dodman who has left for pastures new.
