Obviously as a single lass I'd like to say that Valentine's day is just commercial rubbish....

However, as much as I hate happy couples and fluffy red hearts, it is nearly that time of year again and despite my best intentions (including online dating!!) I'm single again. Until my devious man entrapment plan that i've been working on comes to fruition, my intentions this Valentines day are to go to Fuzzy Ducks (a superbly classy student night in Oxford) on a quest to find my future husband....

    What plans do you have?
Smug couples and bitter single people suggestions welcomed.

Ignore the commercialism of the day.
Ignore the smug marrieds and smug couples.
Become depressed at yet another year of hatred towards one day.
    Have a drink.

Shoot anyone who says "you'll find someone soon"

    I'm single too I'm afraid!!:frown:
Although I do have a bit of a love interest many miles away so I shall probably send a card over to Bavaria for a certain Frauline Stadlmayer!

Personally, I love being single. I get to do what I want when I want, and if I don't want to do it then I don't. I come and go as I please, and I get to drink as much as I want whenever I want. I go on holiday by myself, and I don't have to negotiate with anyone because I want to go for a walk on the beach, and she wants to go shopping! I get to spend my hard-earned money on myself, on things I want, not things I'm being told to buy!! And best of all, I never have any arguments, or have to visit the parents-in-law!!

I suppose to someone looking in on my life it may appear a bit lonely, but it isn't at all. I'll admit it is a very selfish lifestyle, but it's also very self-sufficient and I rely on myself, not other people. I think it's pretty damn perfect!

I'm not discounting ever permanently changing the status quo, but she would have to be very special indeed to make me give up my lifestyle as it currently is! :)

Another singleton here... seems that everyone around me is in a loved up couple (good for them).

On V Day itself, I should be at a wind band rehearsal... but I think it's been cancelled because of V Day celebrations (EVERYONE in the band seems to have a partner... grr).

Unfortunately for me, the only guys I seem to attract are already married or have girlfriends and are looking for a bit of fun on the side. I only know two single blokes and neither of them are interested in me - although I'm not that interested in them either!

Except for the "Have a drink" part (it's got me into too much trouble)

Umm none....Hubbie and I think it is totally over-rated, he struggles to say the words "I love you" at all, let alone on one day because the card companies tell him he ought to.

We'll have a quiet evening in, him in the garage and me upstairs in my craft room - Perfect

Not being too much of a romantic.I met my now wife on Valentines Day.Got engaged on Valentines Day.And 2 years after meeting got married on Valentines Day.We are still together after nearly 31 years of marriage. Not bad for someone who is not really a romantic. But I still say I love you on the odd occasion.

At least you guys have a choice - my wife's birthday is the 14th of February........and yes I do buy two cards!

However this year we're going away to Chester for the weekend sans kids - it'll be the best night's sleep we've had in ages

I don't like the commercialism of it (same with all the others - Grandma's day? Do me a favour! What next? "Bloke I met in the pub one Friday"'s day?) but it is nice to do something special every now and again.

As my dad said to my mum when she mentioned V day. "Why buy more bait when I've already caught my fish!"

I've yet to find the courage to say that to my missus

Oh we do "special" just not on V day. We do it when it is cheaper and better. We won't be crammed in, they won't serve us an expensive "V-day set meal" and they won't try and get rid of us because they have booked the table again from 9.30 for a second sitting;)

Maybe we should have a list of single (unattached) people and we could send valentines pm's to each other lol.
