"The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band” have vacancies to boost the following sections...

New members need to be of grade 6 'standard' and willing to work as a team member, be committed to rehearsals and engagements and want to progress their own playing as well as the standard of the band. We welcome new and past players to join us.

This band is Yorkshires Premier Concert and Marching band and well established within this area as well as around the UK and with your help we can continue this for many years to come. Full instruction is given for the ceremonial side and the present members who have never done it, before joining the band have really enjoyed the challenges.

If you want to see what we are all about we will be performing a marching display in Front of Bradford City Hall on the 13th Aug, then will be joined by our visiting band from Canada, The Bridgewater Fire Dept Band, for a parade around the city. The Bridgewater Fire Dept Band is on the return leg of our band exchange. The bands will be in and around the City Hall from 130Pm if you would like to come and say hello. We are also performing a Gala concert with our guest on Wed 17th Aug in Bradford Cathedral. Details for both these engagements can be found on our web site.

The band tries to have a tour each year and as you can see from the events above our last trip was to Canada!! The Band is also going over to Ypres in November to take part in the Remembrance Ceremonies there and have also just started are preparation for a tour next year!

If you would like more info on the band please visit our web site.
or contact the Band Manager Kevin fisher MBE in confidence on 07768261302.

Or if you would just like to pop in for a listen or a blow, also contact the band manager to arrange this.

The Band is looking for a new principal Cornet player, this player needs to be able to work as a team, want to encourage the rest of the section and help lead the brass end of the band. As well as concerts the band does ceremonial engagements, Fanfare team and brass group. The principal cornet player is relied on to help prep these ensembles for engagements and on occasions lead them if the MD or Dep MD are not available.

You can get further information on the band from our web site or IM the team on here. Also you could contact our Band Manager Kevin Fisher MBE on 07768261302 all enquiries will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence.

To all on The Mouth Piece, do you have a boyfriend/Girlfriend, Husband or Wife tooked away that plays Woodwind? or do you fancy a change to the dark side!!!!

Can You Play a Brass / Woodwind or Percussion Instrument?
Would you like to perform in a Military Style Band without the Commitments of Service Life?
Would You Like to perform in a dedicated band who strives for professional standards?

The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band, is Yorkshire's Premier “Military Style” Concert band, based in HQ West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service at Birkenshaw, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD11 2DY. The Band is proud to represent and wear the uniform of one of the national Emergency Services and boasts some 30+ musicians from all walks of life. There are only four “Military Style” Fire Service bands in the country, but West Yorkshire has the good fortune of also having one of the Services’ Pipe Bands.

The Band is primarily a Concert Band playing all the Military favourites but we are always trying new music to enhance the bands performance and ability. We have members from all walks of life from Ex Military Musicians, Ex fire Officers, Police, Teachers, Builders, Office workers, Parents, Students, you name it and your all very welcome. We also perform as a Ceremonial Marching band for parades or Displays as well as Brass and Woodwind quintets, a Fanfare Team and a Dixie Band. We would like to start a Pop group and have a Corps of Drums to Lead us on Parade.

Although The Band asks That you commit fully to engagements and Rehearsals we do understand that members employment is their primarily commitment, we just ask that you give all you can and give us as much notice as possible when you are unable to attend.

The Band tries to have a tour or trip each year, sometimes it’s the other end of the UK and sometimes its, Canada, Poland, Ypres.

The Band is run by a like minded Management team and all members have an input to the direction of the band and all ideas are considered.

If you are an ex Military Musician and would like to keep playing in this style or a Wife, Husband, Partner of a Military Player and would like to show them you can also do it, Or a Brass Band player that wants to spread their wings and try something new, why not give us a try.

The Band is well established with a good Library of music!

If you are interested please Contact either:

The Band still has space for some Horns and Troms, most other sections are well balanced. We maybe a wind band but Eb Horns are welcome!

The Band is off to Ypres Next month to pay respects to all who have fallen and have started planning tours for the next few years, with another trip to Canada on the horizon.
We are also in planning for a charity concert in Manchester in the memory of Guardsman Neil Tony Downes, who fell in Afghanistan in June 2007, this event will be supporting Help for Heroes.

If you are happy in the band you’re in, please pass this on to all you know who maybe looking for a move and especially if they have friends and family who play woodwind.

There is more info on our new website that is growing week by week. Or if you prefer, feel free to contact us via this site.
If you just fancy a blow or would be willing to go on our deps sheet please contact us!
