I've just read on the BBC News website that Unwins have ceased trading.

That seems particularly unlucky for an off-licence (of all things) to go out of business the week before Christmas :icon_surprised:

Just saw this on the news too Dave. Very unusual I must say in the week/days before Christmas - I guess it has been a while in the making eh! I find it hard to believe they don't take advantage of the seasonal sales to at least recoup some of the revenue they will obviously need to settle their folding costs and repay creditors etc.

We've had something similar in Southend, where the smaller of our two theatres was closed at the end of October while they decide on various applications to take it over. For several years they have run very successful pantomimes/Christmas shows, guaranteed to play to full houses, and you would have thought they would have run one this year to boost the coffers, and closed in January instead.
