The University of York Brass Band are pleased to announce that their first ever rehearsal will take place on Sunday 1st November at 8pm in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall on the University campus at Heslington.

The band was formed during the summer vacation and is open to all Students and Staff at the University of York who play Brass or Percussion instruments.
The band does not audition players and is open to players of any ability.

The band will perform two or three concerts each year and is hoping to take part in the Whit Friday march contests in 2010.

The band would like to thank the University of York Students' Union (YUSU) for their assistance in setting up the band.

First rehearsal went quite well! :-D

18 players around the stand, with quite a few known illnesses and working.

I'm looking forward to getting a whole load of new music out next week and taking the band onwards and upwards!! :-D

    Hi Darryl

Good to hear it went well. But it's a pity we couldn't do the joint thing. We're forming a brass group too at York St John Uni and should have a similar number at our first rehearsal in a week or so. Perhaps we could form a 'massed band' at some stage!

    Hi David,

    Good to hear from you!

As far as the joint thing is concerned, we had a chat in the pub after rehearsal last night and I feel that the committee would be in favour of doing some joint activities, be they rehearsals or concerts (or other activities!). :D
