University Brass Ensemble

    Next year i will be conducting my uni's brass ensemble.The level of players will range quite dramatically so im wondering if anyone has any good opinions of what pieces to do?

    It rather depends whether the level ranges dramatically from 'rank beginner' to 'decent' or from 'okay' to 'outstanding'... It also rather depends on what the format of the ensemble is - 10-piece? Quintet? 16-piece? Brass band with trumpets and French horns playing cornet and tenor horn parts?

    What have they played in the past? More information would be helpful.

    Which university? We do a fair amount of film music, as well as a few original compositions by our MD.

    Sorry to be churlish, but do university level educated students not use a capital I when used on its own and also an apostrophe in I'm ?
