Watching Rooney United last night it struck me that although the lad is undoubtedly a towering talent with a football at his feet...he us ridiculuosly Shrek like in features, who I'm sure you'd have to agree, isn't the most handsome cartoon character ever generated.

And it got me thinking that there seems to be a plethora of uniquely talented people who look like they took a nose dive out of the ugly tree and smacked their face on every branch on the way down!!

Ronaldinho (Sp?)!! Rooney (Mr. Chav)!! Ronaldo (The Brazilian)..and the list goes on...

Is there some direct correlation between these peoples undoubted immense talent and their inversely proportioned unbelievably ugly features? Do you have to be a right *****r to be a superstar??

    Opinions please.
(and this is just a bit of fun, please don't start bleeting on about "well it's really not nice to call people ugly" etc. Ugly as these folk may be they have far more dosh/talent than me so they'll undoubtedly have the last laugh anyway.)

There are probably more good-looking talented professional footballers out there than those that look like they've had their face set on fire and had it put out with a shovel. As a heterosexual male I'm not about to point out who I think they are ;)

Reckon you're onto something here mate - and its not just sporting talent. There aren't many good looking famous musicians are there!

I think I can disprove that, Iain Dowie, probably one of the ugliest in football and an absloute waste of space unless he was scoring own goals for West Ham LOL Still, not a bad manager for Palace.

This only confirms my thought that the sporty types are still too close to their neanderthal roots - sloping forehead, prominent canines, large muscles and small, single focus brains.

There do seem to be more with thyroid problems these days ;)

It's only the super talented that seem to be affected...hence the reason that i can maintain my chiselled good looks and be a moderately handy player simultaneously!

    I gather you're brilliant aren't you mike? ;)
