Someone I know thinks it would be a good idea to have a twin Band within the UK (less hassle and expense) to swap trips and concert venues with. For example Verwood may be going North next year to be the guests of a Band who will show us their lovely area and set up concerts ect and then we shall return the favour and they can enjoy a weekend in Dorset. Nice for families and musicians. What do you all think?

Twining bands in the UK? I think there could be a tie in there

Why not look to take it a step further and involve the Sally Army bands?

Twinings make very good Earl Grey tea Messy!

If you get a Twinings brew going on oooop North I may be persuaded to come out of retirement to squeeze into a size 10 uniform and perform with you on stage :D

Salvation Army bands (and choirs and other groups) have participated in exchange visits for some time. With the participation in worship these would normally cover a full weekend, but can sometimes be just a Saturday or Sunday, or even the occasional long weekend at a Bank Holiday etc.

It can be an excellent opportunity to make (and renew) friendships with other players, and because we tend to stay with our hosts, you also get to meet other family members and spend time socialising as well as playing.

Excellent idea. Here at Ashbourne we arrange an out of town visit every 2 years. Try to meet up with other band(s) for a joint concert in the area we visit . This is part of our charity fnd raising. Good experience for the junior members as well as the not so young. Not always easy to make arrangements without the help of another band's organisation. A twinning register will make this happen more easily and give us more areas to choose from. :)

If any band would fancy being involved in a twining register, pm me and I will collate a list of interested bands which I will publish on tmp when complete. Please include web address (url) and band secs name and phone number.

We at Boarshurst in Saddleworth will definately be in there.
Could be an excellent Whit Friday Contesting evening next year.........
