Hi! Does anyone know of, or have details for, a brass tutor around the Birmingham area? I play the tenor horn, and havent had any tuition for a while, and could do with getting my lip back in for NYBB at easter. I was hoping for an hour lesson every fortnight or so. any details would be gratefully recieved :)

    Andy Culshaw

Trumpet/Cornet tutor at the Birmingham Conservatoire. One of the best diagnostic tutors around apparently

How about Simon Lenton? I know he teaches one tenor horn player at least.
You could probably get in contact through the Fine Arts Brass website (www.fineartsbrass.co.uk)

Owen Farr used to lecture at Birmingham Conservatoire, think he still does. PM me if you want a number.

Why not pop down to your local brass band and keep your lip in.

I would contact James Cunningham, he's passionate about brass bands, takes the Birmingham Schools band, conducts a couple of different bands and Orchestras, does instrumental teaching for Birmingham(shire) and I know he tutors at home in he evenings.

He's very busy because he's very good. And did I mention he plays on the front row at Desford.

If you send me a private message I'll pass on his mobile.

    Cheers, Martin
