On Saturday 16th February, Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band will be very pleased to welcome the virtuoso tuba player, Les Neish, to host a workshop for junior players in the afternoon before performing in a concert accompanied by the band in the evening.

The two hour junior workshop will kick off at 2pm in the St Andrew’s Church Hall, Livingston. Entry is free and junior players from all local bands and schools are welcome to come along with their instruments and get some tips from one of the finest tuba players of our generation.

A Les Neish workshop is a unique and fun experience – his enthusiasm inspires budding brass stars and his numerous fun activities engage youngsters while making them feel totally at ease. Contact B&L Band Secretary, Jan MacDougall on 01506 433151 to reserve your place.

The evening concert will start at 7:30pm in the St Andrew’s Church, Livingston. This concert will showcase Les Neish’s virtuosity with accompaniment and additional items from the Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band. Tickets (free to any junior players attending the afternoon workshop) will be available on the door for £7/5.

Les Neish is one of the leading tuba players of his generation with international recognition as a soloist, chamber musician and educator. His diverse career includes a performance at Millennium Park, Chicago and recording on an album with pop star “Sting”. Les has performed a huge number of workshops throughout the UK, Europe, America and even Australia, so we are very pleased to welcome him to West Lothian as he aims to show how much fun making music can be to junior brass players.

The Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band formed as an amalgamation of two West Lothian bands in October 2004. The band enjoy performing concerts and gala days in the local area, and regularly travel further afield to compete at a range of contests throughout Scotland and the UK. www.broxburnandlivingstonband.co.uk
