    OK, so I am trying to remember a song to see if it is available on iTunes for purchase. All I know is that the first few lines are;

    Oh, Oh, Oh, it's magic
    You know
    Never believe it's not sooooooo
    It's magic...

    Anyone help me out?

It was used in the Magic Roundabout recently.......ELO I think. My son would know (at all of 6yrs old) as he's watched it so much over the summer holiday he knows it all word for word now

It's by a group called the Pilot lyrics

    Here are the full lyrics

    Ho, ho, ho
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe it's not so
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe, it's not so

    Never been awake
    Never seen a day break
Leaning on my pillow in the morning
    Lazy day in bed
    Music in my head
Crazy music playing in the morning light

    Ho, ho, ho
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe it's not so
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe, it's not so

    I love my sunny day
    Dream of far away
Dreaming on my pillow in the morning
    Never been awake
    Never seen a day break
Leaning on my pillow in the morning light

    Ho, ho, ho
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe it's not so
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe, it's not so

    ---- Musical Interlude ----

    Ho, ho, ho
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe it's not so
    It's magic, you know
    Never believe, it's not so

That's the one , PILOT (no THE), about 1973. Same year I think was "JANUARY, sick and tired, you've been hangin' on me......."

With my "DJ Dave Doubledecks" head on.....

    Magic - November 1974 reached #11
January - January (spooky huh?) 1975 reached #1 and stayed there for 3 weeks.

Were they the same group (from South Shields) who sang Corstophine Town (it's a fine town, I'm coming home, I wish I never ever went away...)? (not one of their hits, strangely enough)

No - that was recorded by a group called Splinter, who were discovered by George Harrison who produced Costafine Town on his Dark Horse record label. This was one of my favourite songs back in 1974, such a plaintive song, great tune, thoughtful lyrics. If fact, thanks for the reminder I'm loading onto my Ipod as I write this.

Whilst the words you've posted aren't exactly the same, might you be thinking of "Magic" by The Cars?

EDIT: For some strange reason, I saw none of the earlier replies when I was writing this!
And of course, Pilot it was - easy to remember when someone has already told you!

Perhaps we ought to turn this into "Beat the Nigel" Music contest thread

Is your knowledge based on a particular era or do you do the whole "spread"?

Gonna have to think of some song questions now.......

late 50's-90's are my best bet as I don't really like much of today's "modern music" - and before anyone else posts it I know it obviously makes me an old f**t but I don't care - I knows wot I like and I don't like rap (with or without a capital C!!!!)
