I'm looking to purchase a book or two of trombone trios to make sectionals a little more interesting and as a good way of getting whichever section I'm in at the time to play well. I remember my teacher had a fairly good book but don't remember much about it.

Anyone got any suggestions - i've seen the following two whilst searching the web, anyone got any comments:

    Eric Crees: The Trombone Section
Roger Harvey: BrassWork Book for Trombone Section

    Any others around?

There's a varied selection here. If you are feeling really adventurous have a stab at the fantastic trio by Derek Bourgeois listed on the site.

The Eric Crees book is really good. Orchestral Excerpt books are usually good too.

Did you get any help from the BTS Forum?

How's about Steak and Kidney Supper by Brian Lynn. Good fun, but tough to play. If your trombone section is reasonably adept at reading proper music in proper clefs (only joking!), try to get your hands on some books of orchestral excerpts, or better, get hold of a copy of Gordon Cherry's marvellous CDROM of orchestral trombone and tuba parts. I can't remember the website name, but you'll find it if you Google 'Cherry Classics'.

I'm sure Brassneck will find it for you....

Not a sausage. That's why I re-posted on here, tMP tend to be quicker at responding than BTS. Can always count on you lot!
