Not really a practice mute as such, just a sound muffler. You could always just play quieter ;) .

There seems to be an increase in Practice Mute interest recently. Maybe because some bands have started using them as a substitute for ppp, but if you after a good one for a) practicing quietly, or b) developing an open and controlled sound, you can't go far wrong with a Denis Wick.

If you really need a French Beret type of thing, I've seen people using a bicycle seat cover. Probably just as good!
