To slur or not to slur, that is the question!

Having a blow the other day I was going through a couple of solo's, one of which being "The Better World" and found it challenging but very playable, however the last bit is a fast semiquaver passage, crotchet = 168 i think. However its all marked as just normal semis and I fould that my double tounging was far faster than my hand but then I tried slurring most of it and found it a piece of cake.

So my question is this, should I slur this passage, and be able to play it or tounge it and struggle on??

For a performance whichever one you do better and more musically but in practice work on both.

Well said. Most of the time your audience won't know or care which you do, but for your own self-esteem work on it both ways - then you can have the choice.

ditto... and if you get them both up to standard you could always go for a mixture, something like slur 2 tongue 2, just to show off a bit!
