[IMGLEFT][/IMGLEFT] tMP Annual Awards - The Results!

The results of what has now become our annual awards have now been announced.

Following a year that saw the return of Black Dyke to major contest wins, along with their monumental CD release 'Trumpets of the Angels', the Queensbury outfit have now been voted 'Band of the Year' by the users of This was the first time this particular category has been included in our awards - and what better name in the world of banding to start the roll of honour?

Stopping Black Dyke from completing the 'double' in our awards are the Yorkshire Building Society Band - who have been awarded the 'CD of the Year' award for their masterful recording - Music of the Spheres - a recording widely accepted as being truly 'out of this world'!

Another new award this year was that of 'Best New Music'. The winner of this category is Philip Sparke's 'Music of the Spheres' - a piece commissioned by Professor David King and the Yorkshire Building Society Band for their annual defence of the European Brass Band Championships. We at tMP are extremely proud to be able to present this award to one of our regular contributors - congratulations Philip!

A number of other awards were also decided upon - to see the results of these other categories - along with the top 3 winners of the above awards visit here:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who posted their nominations and took the time to register their vote - thank you for making this year's awards a success - and for providing the winners with the prestige of being voted 'the people's choice'.

on behalf of the tMP Team.
