This is the official tMP discussion thread for the Yorkshire Area of the forthcoming Regional Championships of Great Britain.

Feel free to discuss your thoughts and predictions for each section within the Area - but don't forget to enter the tMP Predictions Competition - for your chance to contribute to the overall tMP Predictions (plus a chance to win one of the first copies of 'The Mouthpiece' - the winning march composed by Darrol Barry). Please note, that any predictions posted within this thread do not contribute towards the competition. Details of the tMP Predictions Competition can be found here:

We also ask that when the results for the various sections are announced, they are posted in this thread, and not posted as brand new threads - it has the potential to become extremely messy should this be the case. We will be creating and maintaining a complete set of results for viewing on the tMP Portal as they happen.

Do 3 or 4 bands go through from the Championship Section this year? I assume that Black Dyke and YBS have prequalified?

I agree, sellers are a v. good band. they were in a similar situation a few years back and peculiar circumstances robbed them of a trip to the Albert Hall. it would be great to see them qualify for a change.

I'd like to draw your attention to the first section. looks like its going to be REALLY interesting this year, what with imps having come down and hatfield worthy of promotion but appealing to stay down. then youve got a couple of good bands just come up from 2nd section and lets not forget the likes of marsden and knottingley and the others making the jam/potted meat in the middle of what looks a very spicy sandwich indeed!!!

its all hopes and dreams!...and a great test piece too!!

Yes looking at all of the sections here the best Contest is going to be the first section it was a very hard choice for me to pick 3 bands to put in my predictions as any of 6 bands could get in the first 3 here.
Great piece for all 1st Section bands:clap:
Dont envy the adjudicator:eek: with this section, :guiness

It seems to me that there will be 4 bands from the Yorkshire Championship section at the finals this year. If Dyke and YBS were to be placed 1st and 2nd, then the 3rd and 4th placed bands would receive an invite to the finals (as has happened in the past). If Dyke and YBS are not the top 2, then the bands placed 1st and 2nd will be invited to the finals, and YBS and Dyke will also go through by right.

The first section is going to be a fantastic contest - could go any way, I would suggest!

Really looking forward to the 1st section. Should be a great contest. As a promoted band it is somewhat disconcerting looking at the established bands in the section but I am confident we can more than hold our own. Bring it on!!

PS mods, Barnsley Building Society will be conducted by C. Hardy and not J. Hopkinson (he's playing cornet!)

    EDIT: Correction made, PB, Mod
