The Official 2006 Scottish Open/Shield Contest

Discussion in 'The Adjudicators' Comments' started by ABERDEEN LOON, Nov 16, 2006.

OK then, who is going this year?

We are going to be putting down our sheep, taking off the wellies and making the long trip from turriff to glasgow on the day (I think that a fair amount of sleeping will be done on the bus! unless the younger members of the band (about 3/4 of the band) are singing all the way again! Oh dear...what a though:eek:

I was on the SBBA web site last night and cannot find any info on the contest at all. I know that the pre draw was yesterday and was expecting to see the draw anounced on the site, but no coverage at all!? Maybe we are only meant to know our own draw...?

So then, fa's gan tae Glaesga? (Translation: who's going to Glasgow?)

Only the Shield and Challenge Cup contests are pre-draw because of early starts. The Open is drawn on the day. Quite right Loon, you will only get to know your own draw. Hopefully I'll get a cut down preview up this week. Been very busy of late. :(

This is a very quiet thread considering the contest is only 4 days away....! Hope it's a good contest and an enjoyable day as always. Gutted I can't make it up there to watch this year (first one I've missed playing in) as I'll be in Leamington.

Good luck to all the bands competing and espiecally to all my pals playing for a variety of Scotland's finest (Kirky, Whitburn, The Co and Kinneil).

I hope there are no strange results like last year. I've just read through 4br's review of last year and for once I agree with what was written. I can't can't help laugh!

    - it is odd isn't it? 4BR are leaving it until this evening for their preview and the SBBA site hasn't got anything to declare at this late date.

Well, Besses definately aren't going. Don't know if they were replaced or not.

This could be a tight one this year. Many bands are playing at top form and have proved so this year!

    Good luck to everyone!
