The best baritone

  1. I just wondered:
    What is the best baritone??
    What do you think?

    I have got a Besson Sovereign 956, 4-valve. And I love it!! :D

    For sheer sound, I would say the old Salvation Army Triumphonic baritones if you can find one!

    Good to see us Baritone Players on here asking questions.
    Well i have got the same as you but have never been to impressed with the valves on it , i have put a reply to a recent thread about them.
    But as for sound its a great instrument thats both Laqured and Silver Plated you can certainly give it some HAMMER:woo as i know to well when our conductor shouts

    Our band has the Yamaha 621S. It is a 4 valver. The valves have always been good and it seems to work quite well. I don't get quite the same sound out of it that I hear some baritone soloists on recordings, but I'm liable to think that's more me that the horn. (I've been on a Wick 5BS).

    Well that's what I've always thought. Sure they can't compete with modern bari's on depth and volume, they're the best bari's I've ever played.
