    Hi Nick

I played with Brodsworth as a borrowed player when they won it in 1985.

1984 test piece was James Cook Circumnavigator. Vinter
1985 test piece was Primavera. by Bryan Kelly i think.

Pretty sure 1986 was Blitz, and Rhapsody in Brass for 2nd section. Seem to remember Hanwell winning on James Cook.

I think 1986 was variations on a Ninth - with Imps winning under Ray Farr
1986 2nd section was Fantasy for Brass band (Arnold) 1st Swinton (Dave King) , 2nd Queensbury (Bryan Dyson) 3rd Rothwell Temps (me)
Rhapsody in Brass was definitely 1987
I also remember Hanwell winning on James Cook - this was an incredibly controversial result where legend has it that the results were read out in the "upside down" order!!
Primavera was a very original piece by Bryan Kelly - never surfaced since...
City of Coventry played a blinder under the major in 1982 on Diadem of Gold with, I think, Eric Capron on sop - whatever happened to him?

Oh yes, this used to be a fantastic contest. We played there often. Only trouble is, it was in my younger days when I used to have to be carried home! So don't remember much about the who and what.
