Telford band’s raise funds for world events through

    Members of the senior bands of the Abraham Darby Academy, Madeley, Telford on Saturday 7th February will be participating in a sponsored 10 hour sponsored play to help to raise funds to enable the school’s participation in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade in July 2009 and towards the Showband’s return to the New York International Wind Band Festival where they will perform on the stage of the world famous Carnegie Hall in March 2010. The sponsored event will be held at the Academy, and everybody is invited to spend some time at the event. Members of the Supporters of Music at Abraham Darby Academy (SMADA) will be at the event to provide refreshments during the event to both the Band Members and members of the audience.

    The sponsored event will be launched at 9.00 a.m by the local MP for Telford David Wright who will conduct the band for the first few minutes with the baton then being passed to Rachel Morton, the Academy’s Head of Music, who will then continue without a break until 7.00 p.m, for a total of 10 hours.
