My computer crashed a couple of weeks ago and I had to reinstall windows XP.

Now I get these stupid "Windows Messenger Service" adverts (that get past Norton). I think the program they were run off of was on the Windows CD and reinstalled with Windows (I had deleted it before).

Now I can't remember the name of the program that runs these annoying ads. Does anybody know what it is so I can go back and delete it again?

Just go into Start > Control Panel > Administration Tools > Services.

Right click on the service called Messenger (this is not the same as MSN) and click on properties. Disable the property, and also stop it.

    Job done.
