The fantastic TIMPERLEY BAND will be there. I saw them at Christmas at the school where they rehearse in and their principle cornet was brilliant!! I haven't heard many cornet players play that well for a long time.

Good luck to Neil Samuel's band BTW hope they do well.

Not being from the Northwest but recognising some of the band names I am confused (doesn't take much!). Just wondered whether someone could explain.

Timperley appear (acc to 4barsrest.com) to be playing in the Championship Section, but did not appear in the results of the recent areas, which when added to the fact that they withdrew from the 3rd section last year would imply that next year they could nationally be graded 4th Section - is this correct? I know that bands sometimes have different National and Local gradings but this does seem a bit extreme.

Trinity Girls also failed to compete two weeks ago, as defending Champions, and yet today were able to turn out a band capable of winning the 3rd Section by a clear 7 points.

I know several bands who have struggled with numbers through a given year but then done everything they can to get to the Areas to try and avoid relegation.

What I find confusing is that bands not going to the Areas only 2 weeks ago now find themselves competing in this contest, and from the results the one who has already played must have done so VERY well.
