Competition dream comes true for Leyland

AN all-expenses-paid weekend in London for the British National Championship final on October 15 has been awarded to the Leyland Band, of Lancashire.

Principal Eb bass Chris Doran entered the Cadbury's Dream Factory competition, suggesting the chocolate firm could make the North West champions' dream come true by covering costs incurred in competing at the Royal Albert Hall. And his idea earned the top prize, which will cover new uniforms, accommodation and other extras.

"It's the best financial news the band have had since losing sponsorship five years ago," said cornet player Damien O'Reilly.

Congratulations to Chris for an inspired piece of thinking. As long as the new uniforms aren't 'Cadbury's Miniature Heros' Costumes !! :p

Yorkies are made by Rowntrees, a NORTHERN company, not some southern-pansy excuse of a firm. Besides, it's not for girls!

And there was me thinking they were now Swiss-owned. But hey, still not for girls.
