My band is contemplating entering the SWBBA Contest in Torquay in November, the third section test piece for which is Episodes for Brass (by Gareth Churcher). I have not seen/heard the piece before and wondered if anyone out there had and would offer an opinion on it.

It was the 3rd section testpiece at Pontins 2 years ago. As far as I know there's no recording of it. I seem to remember it's quite a blow?

I found it very enjoyable to rehearse whilst with BMP Goodshaw. It's not too difficult but as Andy says, it was quite a blow. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks for those replies, the band haven't decided quite yet as to whether to enter, so we'll see if I get to see the piece or not!

    Thanks again for your help.

Just a quick note to say 'thank you' again for your responses - Weston Brass did decide to go we came 3rd in the 3rd section. I think everybody enjoyed the piece: it wasn't too technically taxing yet quite a blow, good fun basically; a good day was had by all!
