    Hello Brass Banders

Here is another 2 hours with some of the best brass bands and music from around the world. We have star soloists on this week’s show.

Greetings to any new listeners. Some great news is that Expat Radio in France have asked to play my show on their internet radio station. I understand this station has a huge following amongst the expat communities around the world – more on that news later.

My new website is well on its way to have half of it completed. This will be the Sunday Bandstand part of the website, with further additions to follow. This will including CD reviews and interestingly an archive section of my programme which will have Mixcloud links to the shows going back to early 2014. It will also have opportunities for advertising on the website. Further updates will follow. The show will soon be going out through 14 licensed community stations, which are both here in the UK and overseas.

Andrew Duncan was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1962. After learning to play the Trombone at Primary school he joined local brass bands playing the Trombone, Euphonium and then Tuba. He then went on to study music at Napier University in Edinburgh and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London

In 1984 he became Principal Tuba with the Hallé Orchestra, a post he held until 2000. During this time he travelled the world, as well as playing with most of the major British orchestras and with London Brass, Andrew was for a member of Hallé Brass. He has held a number prestigious appointments as Professor of Tuba

In 1995, he started an MA course in composition at Salford University and it was during this time he began to write and arrange for brass bands. His success in this field has won him a number of prizes.

In 2001 he and his family moved to Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, where he works as a freelance composer/arranger and conductor and runs the Lewis Music Press.

Listen out for his composition Moon Pictures - a work not played that often but it is a great piece to both play and listen to.
