    Hello Everyone

Another great show and play list for you this week. Plenty of top class brass band music from around the world along with some great soloists.

Please consider forwarding and sharing this weekly link e-mail with your contacts from the brass band world.

Here we have a show where there is something for all our listeners.

Don’t forget if you have a request or question about the world of brass bands or your band has a new CD out I would be very pleased to play tracks from it. I will also promote the CD and your band’s website. Please contact me email: and I will be very pleased to hear from you.

John Hinckley had an enviable reputation as the flugel horn player with B&R, a band he was very proud to be a member of from 1974 to 1992. As a player he won every competition in the calendar, the British Open Championships, the National Brass Band Championships, the European Championships, the Yorkshire Championships and many others, most of them on more than one occasion. A very significant part of his playing days was the unique involvement with the Floral Dance recording and all that came with it.

Conducting started with a 5-year apprenticeship as resident conductor with the extremely successful Marple Band followed by a 7-year period as the musical director of the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. Spectacular progress was made, notable contest achievements including winning the Yorkshire Area in 1999, arguably the most difficult of them all. Together they won the Grand Shield enabling a return to the much-coveted British Open Championships and top 3 placings at the All England Masters Championships.

John has also been associated with Besses o'th Barn, CWS (Glasgow), Yorkshire Imperial, Mount Charles, Wingates Band. Not confined to the UK, he has also been associated with two Norwegian Bands Kleppe Musikklag and Tertnes Brass.

John is conducting two tracks with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band in this week's show.
