Hello Brass Banders – Here is our new Sunday Bandstand show and the playlist for this week. We have performances from bands and soloists from around the world. We also have tracks from 2017 dating back to 1966 – music as always to suit all tastes.

Don’t forget if you have any questions about the world of brass bands or you would like a request played on the show please contact me by email – your own band may be producing or has produced a new CD. I would be pleased to play a couple of tracks from it and both promote it for you and your band’s website. The show is now played through 14 community radio stations (9 in the UK and 5 overseas) as well as being sent out to 200 individual listeners direct to their own computers at home. It also goes out on twitter and is available on The Mouthpiece - so how many people are listening to the show - well I cannot even take a guess but with listeners stretching from Seattle all the way through to Tasmania it has to be ....a lot. It is the usual email: bandstand@chrishelme.org.uk

I see on Mixcloud the link I send you the show on indicates that Sunday Bandstand is standing this week at number 10 in the Community Radio podcast charts... please spread the word about the show and forward it to your friends who are also interested in music from the world of brass bands and may be, just maybe, we might get the show into the top five....

Colonel Thomas Palmatier culminated a distinguished military career spanning more than 37 years as the Leader and Commander of The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the largest military music unit in the United States and was the senior musician in the U.S. Armed Forces. He is now able to dedicate his efforts to music education and to maximizing the success of arts organizations as a clinician, guest conductor, and consultant. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Music at Old Dominion University.
He commanded a number of posts during is distinguished career including the Musical Ambassadors of the Army, The U.S. Army Field Band, being the first Officer to command both of the Army’s top premier bands. Other postings included The Army Brass Band.
This week we feature a track from this band - sadly this musical ensemble has since been disbanded.
