Well it’s Sunday afternoon again and time for this week’s Sunday Bandstand programme which is coming to you from Lightcliffe on the outskirts of Halifax here in the UK. A great mix of the old and the new – from Harry Mortimer’s Men O’Brass of 1957 – through to The Netherlands and even a visit to Sweden – with just the one track from Swedish band Solnar Brass the second track I refer to in the programme will actually be played next week as our opening march. There are a couple of massed performances from the Royal Albert Hall in the 1970s and of course some great soloists. A little bit for all brass band music lovers whether you are from the older generation of players and listeners – to perhaps from the younger generation hearing some of these performances and repertoire for the first time. bandstand@chrishelme.org.uk
