    Kirkby in Ashfield Contest

If you are free on Sunday why not get yourself down to the Festival Hall in Kirkby to hear 9 bands in this years ‘Bands on Parade Contest’. The contest now in its second year is a joint initiative with Newstead and Kirkby Bands together with Kirkby in Ashfield Rotary Club.

The contest starts at 10.30 with the Training band section followed by the open section at approximately 12.15, Bands are required to play a 25 minute entertainment programme with prizes for Best March, Best Soloist, Best Trombone Section, Deportment and etc.

The bar and refreshments are available all day. Contest entry is £2.

    Busy Week end

In addition to this we have a French Band from Ronchin in Northern France staying with Newstead Band this week end and though not taking part in the contest they are going to play a short programme between the sections. A full day of bands for £2, plus a bar and food -
