Brought on by this nice weather we've been having, and having created a playlist on my iPod especially for playing out in the garden during these hot, sticky nights, I wondered what tMPers' favourite summer tunes were? I'll start with a few of my personal faves:

The Beatles - 'Here comes the sun'
    Isley Brothers - 'Summer Breeze'
Beach Boys - 'Wouldn't it be nice'
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Patio Song'
Dusty Springfield - 'The look of love'
    Morcheeba - 'The Sea'
Coldcut - 'Autumn Leaves (Irresistible Force Remix)
    Royksopp - 'Eple'
Vangelis - 'Love theme from Bladerunner'
    Mono - 'Life In Mono'

Wouldn't it be great if they put all these tracks on one record?

(Youngsters need not rise to the bait on that one!)

    ;)

My Summer Selection Album would have to include: (And i think i may go home and make this cd - in this order - I have thought long and hard about this, at least 10 mins)

    Ash - Walking Barefoot
    Koop - Summer Sun
    Groove Armada - Blue Skies
Gene - Long sleeves for the summer
    Supernaturals - Smile
Eye Monster - Daydream in Blue
    Travis - Driftwood
    4Hero - Les Fleur
3 Colours Red - Sunny in England
    Dusted - Under the sun
    Oasis - Chapagne Supernova

And then crank up the volume...

I may also try to slip a Gotan Project Track and something off Air's Moon Safari

I downloaded the Beach Boys "Sounds of Summer - The very best of the Beach Boys" to my MP3 player the other day.

Madness' music is "summery" too :)

(Mustn't sing along to the "I get around" in the office - the falcetto will get me funny looks!!)

    Neil.

'Exit Planet Dust' by the Chemical Brothers
Green day's 'Dookie' has a summer nostalgia for me.
L.A. Woman by the Doors... I love drivin' around with the windows down and the stereo up for that tune!

Jack Johnson is very summery/chillout music, especially his latest album 'In Between Dreams'.
My mate and I think there should be a law saying that you can only listen to it in the summer, because it's so summery! :D

If you're going for Autumn Leaves how about the Coldcut mix?

    My summer music:

St. Germain de Pres cafe (compilation album, very cool)
    Anything by Manu Chao
Saian Supa Crew's X Raison or KLR are also good bets.

    Fairy snuff!! ;)

Another possible future summer classic; Quantic Soul Orchestra's cover of Mr Scruff's "Get A Move On" (As if the original wasn't good enough.....) its fantastic when one of your favourite groups covers a song by another of your favourite artists!
