Durham in July is set to be the place for bands and brass players to be.

This year the County Durham in the UK will come alive with the sound of brass as the first Durham International Brass Festival gets underway (see bandstand postings section of this site for details).

The festival will provide two weeks of brass brass and more brass and lead up to the Historic Durham Miners Gala on 14th July.

    Festival dates: July 1st - July 15th.

The festival will provide a great chance to meet old friends or make new ones! There will be Traditional Brass Bands, band competions, Jazz, Sol, Reggie, Marching Bands, Indian Brass Bands, Serbian Gypsy Brass, Solo Brass, Street Bands, big name concerts, busking competions, an entertainment contest and then more traditional brass and a then a bit more! There will be lots of opportunity to play, there will be a managed 'open performance stage and band spaces with slots for bands and soloists to get up and play'

Or why not just come along and listen to and watch the fun.

We hope to make it a place to meet your friends from across the world aswell as those from the UK. We will be booking and inviting bands from a wide range of countries as well as of course the local County Durham bands to take part!

Use this thread to link up and plan your trip with your friends, fix up meeting points, share info on hotels, transport etc.

A limited amount of low cost band accomodation will be available to those playing at the festival.
