I've just had a lovely error message.
"The connection was not established because the remote computer did not respond in a timely manner"
How pompous is that?! Obviously I have a very well-educated computer...
    Any more?

Worked on a system one time where things would crash with the message:

Error 0 - The operation completed successfully.

Which would be immediately followed by:

A serious error has occurred. [name of application] is shutting down.

So, for this application, apparently: success = failure.

Crikey, where do I start? (I work in IT Support!!)

These are all real (Win2000 network)

"The revocation server could not respond due to revocation"

"The system could not log you on: Your credentials could not be"

"*****.exe has created errors and wil be closed" (be nice if we were told WHAT errors! Might give us a clue?)

the usual Windows one - "page mode fault in stack dump 00FFE56743285"

"An unknown error has occurred in file [unknown]"
A programmer here at work was complaining about this one just this morning.

I occasionally get a message telling me that "win32 is closing down". I have been told by an IT expert that this would mean my whole operating system!!!!!!! I hope I am not tempting providence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yahoo just gave me this chatty little message:

"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out."
