Before I joined the band, they got a lottery grant and bought basses without rings for fixing march straps. So far I have got away with fixing to the tie bars, but I think this might lead to a breakage long term. Looking at the photographs of Brass Band Berne at Delph I saw a strap for a bass without rings. Anyone know where these can be purchased? I think this might be easier than trying to have the rings added. Our basses don't have lyre boxes either.:frown:

I think the harness mentioned above is the one my sister uses, and im pretty sure you just attatch it anywhere on the bass - not necessarily using rings etc. she seems to find it good, and the 'over both shoulders' strap takes a lot of the weight off, making it easier to march with!

You can get straps to attach to tuba without rings from Mr.Tuba in South Wales
