A new campaign has been launched to raise awareness and political interest for premature babies and complications during pregnancy. The campaign, called "Stand Up For Tiny Lives," is to push the government to do more research into how babies and pregnant women can be helped. There is a petition online for you to sign, and personal stories of people who have experienced the pain of having premature children.
This story is close to home for me, I was born at 29 weeks and it's only thanks to the care and attention of the medical staff at Birmingham's Women's Hospital that I am here today. Anything we can do to help these people is desperately needed, I am one of the lucky ones who had no lasting damage, but there are thousands who are not so lucky.
