They have been going since 1892, but they are about to get back together for a reunion. Original members are most welcome! St Albans City Band is a traditional brass band that has been established in this Hertfordshire cathedral city since 1892 and the band has informed 4BR that they are pleased to announce details of its forthcoming reunion of former members and their families. Many hundreds of players have passed through the band over it’s 114 year existence and this reunion will be a great opportunity to renew old contacts and make new friends in the brass banding movement. Celebration The event will also be a celebration of the long service given to the band by member Len Smith who joined the band in April 1939 and retired from playing in January 2006. The reunion will be taking place in St Albans on the evening of Saturday 21st October and will consist of a concert given by the current band as well as a social event for all old members and their families along with a display of old artifacts from the band’s history. Get in touch Former members and families are asked to register their interest in this event as soon as possible by contacting the Band Secretary, Nick Doolan at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07932 594296.
