Who's looking forward to this year's contests? How are you finding the test pieces? We are entering the Grand Shield, and I can say that I am finding my part difficult in Whitsun Wakes, but I am sure that I'll get there eventually! lol!

We are lucky in that our hotel is right across the road from the venue, so we won't have to scuttle around too much in the rain (which there will be inevitably!)...

    Good luck to everyone there....

.... too early to get excited about it yet... ask me in a fortnight when we've hammered essence for a bit!

Its also my 1st Spring Festival!

But after seeing the list of bands who've entered & the fact we're playing in the Opera House makes me a very very nervous horn player! :( Think I'd best go & practice. See you all in 3 weeks!!!!!!!

Its gots be said that the Grand shield looks like its gonna be one heck of a contest theres not really one band who really stick out to me, also I think my band are staying across the road from the venue, its my first blackpool only ever done the open so should be fun!

Just be thankful you only have to play WHitsun Wakes, its like a 'a tune a day' in comparison to Harmony Music!!!

I cannot wait for it...Harmony Music is a great piece and we've played it enough to know that it "should" separate the bands a bit, thing is though there are quite a few really good bands in the section....hoping for an early draw.

see u all in the galleon!!!

    It's ours too!

Not a particularly easy piece to play. And after the rehearsal tonight, think I had better cancel my holiday next week. Maybe not. Do you think the Matlese will mind me practicing? ;)

where've you been all ya life cornish!

I have to say as a place to go for a holiday its got to be the pits, BUT for a banding weekend its the business, been going to blackpool now for over 20 years. Used to be the miners finals then 3 or 4 years ago did my first Spring Festival, brilliant.

Mind, Harmony Music is a real test, don't think many will get any where near it if being honest. Good luck to all competing........

Have played essence of time with two different bands now.
im not playing at the spring festival this year which is gutting cause last year was my first spring festival and it was great.

I might bob down and listen to a few renditions though and end up in the bar once the ones i want to listen to have played...
    Hopefully see you all there.
