As a hitter for a band in the first section (i.e. will be standing at the back for Moorside Suite) I’m desperately hoping we’ll have a more percussion-intensive piece to play when we go to Blackpool a few months later.

Anyone any ideas when they announce the test pieces?

They were announced on 4BR on 10th November last year, so I guess they'll be released VERY soon, maybe even TODAY!!
    Something 'ard please!!?

Battle Creek? Gerontius? Music of the Spheres?

The Test-pieces for The Spring Festival are:

    Grand Shield - Rococo Variations

Senior Cup - The Accursed Huntsman

Senior Trophy - Fantasy for Brass Band

(at least that's what the guy on our burger van just said...:))

Strong selection this time. Good to see Mr. Siebert's arrangement getting a fling.

so, any thoughts if there is any percussion in Le Roi d'Ys? It sounds like quite an old piece, so I'm guessing it might not :(

It is an 'oldie'...am not sure about percussion as it has been MANY years since I've played it lol!

As far as the older pieces go Leroy is a good one, and it'll be a great test, but I really thought the Trophy was due something a bit more modern next year. :(
    hey ho!

Matt - from memory the shed part has got loads of side drum but not much else.....

Leroy Dies? After Spectrum and Epic Symphony?

Crikey, the Trophy bands are getting their share of brass band classics aren't they?

So any first section sheds also playing in the trophy are now feeling slightly suicidal.....
