One of the brass groups I work with has been asked whether we can play "Gold" (Spandau Ballet) and I was wondering if any of you knew of a vaguely reasonable (or otherwise) arrangement that is easily available.

I would hasten to add - it is not MY choice of music, lol

I wonder if trumpetmike was hoping that there wasn't one?

Jeez... now I've heard it all...

Although it's not as bad as I expected. Could have been a LOT worse.....

I dunno, what about someone arranging the Rolf Harris version of Stairway to Heaven?

or There's No-one Quite Like Grandma?

I managed to find a version of "Just Can't Get Enough" for brass band on Sibelius somewhere (I have since recovered after much counselling and blocked it out of my mind) too?!

Well, I did (in)famously manage to get copyright permission for a band arrangement of 'Hey Stoopid!!' by Alice Cooper. :metal:

It was properly good fun in the bandroom too - albeit I doubt the average brass band audience appreciate Mr Cooper's style or repertoire much.... Probably why I've not yet managed to get a publisher or another band interested in it!

Although it could go down a treat on an entertainments programme. And I'm sure 'Fear of the Dark' by Iron Maiden could be very effective If I ever have time to take it on as well....

    Preach it Brother !!

We've had Fairey's Acid Brass ( and fair play to them for it , even if Dance / House / Garage / Hip Hop / whatever the chuff it is that the young people listen too is the music of Beelzebub and all his horny little minions ).

About time we had a Brass Metal / Rock collaboration - "Heavy Metal plays Heavy Metal " for a working title anyone ?? :metal: :metal: :metal:

Put me down for arranger-in-residence on that one Elvis. I've already several ideas for rock pieces that could sound pretty damn fine in brass. (And I mean properly good, no bearnaertsness about it.)

I'm pretty sure I could rope a scratch band together from people who are good enough to pull it off and crazy enough to want to do it as well. (As long as I can provide enough beer afterwards!)

All I need is a small win on the lottery to fund it!

Alright it'd never even nearly recoup, but it'd be brilliant.....

I always imagined "The Brass out of Hell" would have a nice ring to it ...
