    Hi there...

Following the composition title suggestions thread, myself and Fitzy have come up with a final shortlist of 9 titles... These are the ones that really took to our fancy...

So now, we hand this one over to you!!

You know what to do... poll open for 2 weeks.

    ;)

must be my smutty mind but "Touching the Southern Cross" sounds a like a smutty reference! :D

Outback... Does it have a digeridoo in it? if not why not? :D

Quite like Soprise though (nice and cheesy!)

Of course you get to vote Fitzy!!

Rachel.... I can't start the piece without the title..... ;-)

oohhhhhhhh I thought you had written a piece and didn't know what to call it . The title of the piece depends on what sort of music it is. If it is cheesy then I think the Bushwaker Suite would be good.

I quite like Touching the Southern Cross, it sounds like it should be the title of a test piece though :S

I can't believe how split the vote is. If no one title even gets a quarter of the votes will you still pick it as the winner? or will there be a final ballot, or does it go to parliament?

I'll have to have a chat with Naruco but we may have to run another poll of the top 4 choices to get a final answer!!!!

I didn't think there would be that much of a spread vote!

This thread carries the final vote...
56 votes..... in its 3rd day(which is very good imho).... and 11 days to go on the vote.....

I'm not expecting all 4000+ members to vote....
So far, there's a clear winner.... ;-) (that's the title with the most votes by the way ;-))

    But all could change.............. ;)

But, the title with the most votes will win, no matter how far the gap is between each title.... (band number 7 wins by 2 points.... so what?! ;-))
If the vote ends up as a tie, it'll mean Fitsy and I talking it through on MSN and we'll decide a winner from those titles tied, just to save time :p

Will I get a special mention in the publication for NAMING the piece if Southern Cross wins????????

Might be incentive for me to go buy it!!

If it does come down to a tie-break, it may also be worth bearing in mind that there already is a march called "The Southern Cross" by tMP's own Brian Bowen.

... and a baritone solo with the same name by Roy Newsome!

Late Edit ... I've just found out that Herbert Clarke also wrote a cornet solo called 'The Southern Cross'
