Following on from the recent announcement that the band has signed a new principal cornet in the form of Andy Holmes, Sellers have swelled their ranks even further with the signings of two more players. Alex Wilkinson returns to the band on the front row after a short sabbatical. He left Sellers in the spring of 2006 to concentrate on conducting Gawthorpe Youth band and to fine tune his skills as a percussionist. Alex started his career as a tenor horn player and moved onto the cornet around four years ago and has never looked back. He originally played for Sellers on the back row but after helping out Brighouse in recent times has signed as third man down. Welcome back Alex. Ellie Sandbrook also recently signed as a member of the bands very youthful and highly talented percussion section. Ellie who is originally from Nuneaton, is currently studying music at Huddersfield where she plays the flute and is in her secon year there. She started playing percussion at the age of 18 and has played for Cawthorne and Emley before joining Sellers. Both players were part of the successful team who went on to take third place at last years Brass in Concert and made their official débuts with the band at last weekend’s concert in Crawley.
