The Soham Comrades Band are pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Schroeter as their new MD. Keith has been working with the Band since September and the Band were sufficiently impressed with him to ask him to take on the role on a permanant basis. Keith was first introduced to music through the Salvation Army. He started playing when he was 7 years old with the Army Band at Waltham Abbey Corp and was playing with the senior band by the time he was 11. In 1998 Keith accepted a place on the Band Musicianship course at Salford University, working with some of the greats of banding. After completing his course he then moved back down South to complete a secondary teaching PGCE. In 2002 he was one the founder members of Zone One Brass who have in this time had great success within the contest scene gaining instant promotion at their first Area Contest and winning a place at the national finals in Dundee. In 2002 Keith accepted the position as Musical Director of Thundersley Brass. Over 5 years Keith took the band from 4th section to the 2nd section, qualifying for two consecutive national finals and winning a total of 23 trophies with the band. Keith is now looking forward to working at a higher level of banding and restoring Soham to their place in the Championship section.
