Just noticed the "Social Groups" seem to have disappeared into a black hole.
Have they been hidden or removed. If removed is it temporary or permanent?

    Have we over-stepped the mark?

I just noticed that!! How will we organise our olympic bap juggling debut now?!?!?!

I was looking forward to a good social this weekend. Perhaps the credit crunch has caused a drop in peoples social activities.

We're discussing how best to implement them on tMP. At the moment we have more than enough work on our hands in ensuring the forums are free of junk and ****. The last thing we need now is more work to do... and I really think we've had enough of sausages - it gets very tiring.

Not sure if they are to be turned back on or not, there's only a very small minority of folk who use them, so they won't be missed by the masses.

But John they're missed by us! Besides when i mentioned them at band to other members they didn't know what i was on about. Maybe its just us saddos that spend so much time on here that found them? Besides at least the sausagery was better contained??? Rather than on every thread?

I agree!! We loved them and I don't think we were being bad on there

No Leisa, nobody was being naughty, but nonetheless it is another area that the team has to moderate, thus creating more work.

Honestly... the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes here is tremendous. Remember, you rarely (if ever) see any SPAM, porn, phone message selling etc... we work diligently to remove anything we deem innapropriate as soon as we see it.

The Social Groups are a way that some may think they can get around tMP's moderation - and we do have Random for off topic stuff yeah?

But John, surely it kept those of us involved in one place.... kinda like a mouthpiece Guantanamo Bay..... not causing mischief elsewhere.... much?
Does that mean we need to start a bap-juggling thread? fair do's ;)

The trouble is that they weren't contained (IMO). There was a period a week or so ago where every thread I read seemed to have some sort of reference to sausages - including some of the more serious topics discussed here. I guess the question is were the posts contained or encouraged by the social groups?

One thing that bothers me personally about the social groups is this - right from day one tMP has been about inclusion for all. While I'm not suggesting for a moment this was happening, the social group threads are only visible to group members so there could could quite easily discussions opened about tMP members (and banding personalities) without them knowing. At least if people are discussing someone out on the main boards everyone can see it and everyone is entitled to reply as they see fit.

I'm not wanting to sound like a killjoy and the very last thing we as a team want is to spoil people's fun here on tMP - we work really hard behind the scenes to ensure tMP is as fun and informative as we can possibly make it for everyone. tMP is a broad church and discussions here cover all sorts of topics, from the very serious to the very un-serious :). Its an impossible task to keep all of the people happy, but we try very hard none the less.

I can understand it if its making work for the mods, no probs.
But then again if you tot up how many posts go on them all (combined) I bet its not more than a couple a day. But hey ho, I don't know how much work is involved so I trust the mods to make their decision on it.

PS, I was not aware that everyone could not view posts on the social groups

I thought you could, i seemed to be able to view posts when i wasn't a member of the group?! :-S

Yes I do seem to remember reading all the posts before joining. Still I'll shut up now and let the mods do their jobs :D

Me either.... pretty sure i could see stuff in other groups.... unless I'm imagining it, and like I said beofre maybe the reaon they weren't so well used is that tons of people didn't seem to know they existed cos the only way to get into them as far as I could see was using the CP? Unless I'm missing something!
