does anybody know if the slide positions for a slide trumpet are the same as the treble clef trombone?

Yes. In Bb, not concert (C). Low C below the staff is first position, the next one is the hard one. 6th position to play D is hard. The positions are so close you can shoot the slide right off in your hand. Some newer slide trumpets have a catch so the slide cannot come off when playing.

The one I had had a slide lock.

I was going to play the slide trumpet opposite Paul Kiernan at the 'co in Duet for Two Cats at Brass in Concert 2003 but for fear of me and the band collapsing in giggles we had to abandon it and play something else. Not my forte unfortunately the slide trumpet, not easy!

    Thanks guys,

I've been wanting to play one for a while and finally got access to an instrument. Now just got to find where the notes are, It's gonna be a great gimmick at band.

Sod what the band would have thought Alex, I think it would've gone down brilliantly at brass in concert.

    Thanks once again.
